I want to know how to solve it. Are My thoughts below
Correct?
A is wrong because eukaryotes have proteins associated with DNA.
C is also wrong because plants have cell wall.
Archea has cell wall without peptidoglycan.
Youâre sort of right actually:
A - wrong because eukaryotes like plants have cell walls made from cellulose not peptidoglycan.
B - Correct because bacterial cell walls are made from peptidoglycan.
C - wrong as bacteria can have cell walls
D - wrong as bacteria DOES have cell wall made from peptidoglycan.
You donât really have to look at the type of lipid in the membrane when you understand the structure of the cell wall and the presence of histones in the DNA in eukaryotes, like you said in your reasoning for A. Hope this helps clear things up!!
Thanks a lot!!!
Your explanations are useful and understandable as well.
Heey!
Just a little extra info, remember that bacteria do NOT have their DNA wrapped around histones, only eukaryotic cells (and Archaea have proteins similar to histones).
This can help eliminate some options:)
Hi Darius!
Does this also mean mitochondrial DNA doesnât have histones?
youâre right they donât have histones :)). I think itâs to do with the fact that the structure is circular and closed, like bacteria!
Raya is right, chloroplasts and mitochondria do not contain histones!
