Biology Photosynthesis, Chlorophyll

Hi, the correct answer is C here, but I’m not sure why option III can’t also be a correct answer.

Regards of fixing CO2, I think this question is directing to carbon fixation (First step in Calvin Cycle).

I would like to get some clarification.
Thanks!

hi the key to the question is that it says (directly) only the light reaction uses light energy directly , you are correct about the carbon fixation that happens in calvin cycle however none of the steps in calvin cycle require light energy absorption directly.

CO2 is consumed in the stroma I believe?
In Chlorophyl (Thylakoid Membrane) Energy is ABSORBED in the form of light Energy (Photolysis) on H20 to splits H+ & OH- ions: as well as Phosphorylation of ATP_ site of Light Dependent Reaction.

Yes, CO2 is consumed during the calvin cycle which takes place inside the stroma . and light energy is absorbed in the light dependent reaction.
