BMAT 2011 question 20

hi

The correct answer is B)

How can we solve? I thought similarity was that the triangles would be in the same proportion, so the ratio of one side to the other would stay the same, is that incorrect?

Hi
U’ve done wrong starting from the hypotenuse of the middle triangle, it’s still in its squared state!!!
Which instead should be 10/3.
And once u finished finding all the hypotenuses, u would see which triangle is the largest one, by comparing their bases and heights.

Plus, the formula for triangle area isn’t the one u’ve written. The right is the 1/2* base * height.

Hope this helps
