BMAT 2016 Q17 biology

Question said that single mutation occurs a gene coding for a protease enzyme in a fertilised human egg cell. Why statement 3,4 is correct? I didn’t understand why this mutation is related to the allele of protein?

Hi! A mutation of a single allele that codes for a gene that produces a protein: change in bases which include: substitution, insertion, and deletion: can have multiple possibilities in the outcome. The key word in the question is what “COULD” happen.
So the new allele could change a single base that codes for a protein that is non functional but it could have no effect or it could also have a negative effect, like cause a tumor. Hope this helps!
