one liter of an aqueous solution of KOH= 3 is poured into one liter of an aqueous solution of KOH at pOH= 4. which is the pOH of the obtained solution?
3.3
5.5
2.1
1.3
7.1
Hi!
when you wrote KOH = 3, is this the pOH? the concentration?
oh yes sorry I made a typo :')
no worries!
Vf = 2L
n1 = 10⁻³ moles of OH⁻
n2 = 10⁻⁴ moles
nf = 10⁻³+10⁻⁴ = 1,1 * 10⁻³
Cf = nf/Vf = 5,5 * 10⁻⁴
pOH = -log10(5,5 * 10⁻⁴)
= 4-0,7 = 3,3
is this the correct answer?
i don’t have an answer key but let’s see if anybody disagrees. thanks for the explanation!
