option D) is stabilizing selection, the intermediate phenotype is favored (light and heavy to medium weight)
option B) is disruptive selection, the extreme phenotypes are favored over the intermediate (medium to short and long)

but doesnt d suggest either heavy or light babies not medium weight babies?
if heavy and light babies are more likely to die, then the frequency of heavy/light babies in the population would decrease
the frequency of medium babies stays the same but relative to heavy/light it is increasing
