Simple steps to solve word problems:
- Underline key information
- Determine what they are trying to ask, and what you will need to solve it
- Eliminate any non-essential information
- Draw a picture, graph, or equation
- In moments of high stress like exam taking, always work with the paper they give you to avoid careless mistakes.
- Solve.
First, we know she can take the earliest bus after 17:00 because this is when her work end, so she can take the 17:04. Then, we see that she will arrive home by 17:33. We add 45 min here because this is how long she will take to get ready.
17:33 + 0:45 = 18:18
The first bus after this time is at 18:33. It will arrive at the cinema at 18:58. Now we know it will take her 10 minutes to buy her ticket. So any movie after 19:08 will work. If films start every 15 minutes after 18:00, then the first one she can watch is at 19:15.
Therefore E is the answer.
