Q 56 - You know V = IR we know the total V is 18V, and to find the current we need to know total circuit resistance, we have 3Ohms and then a parallel arrangement of 3 and 6 ohm - calculating the total resistance just of the parallel resistors is 1/Rt = 1/R1 +1/R2 , which comes out as 2 Ohms, then we add this to the 3 Ohms that are in series to this parallel loop (Resistance in a series, adds up) then to work out I its 18/5 = 3.6 A
