Ans is E but im getting 75. can someone pls explain
Martina has planned a bike ride so that exactly halfway there is a restaurant where to
stop. She leaves and, after 30 kilometers, she still has a quarter of the way to get to
the restaurant. What is the length of the route in kilometers?
A) 40
B) 120
C) 75
D) 37.5
E) 80
Ok, so :
1/ The restaurant is halfway → 50%, so the total length is 2x the length to get to the restaurant.
2/ There is a quarter of the ride left to the restaurant when she did 30 Km :
so 30 km = 3/4
If you divide both sides by 3 → 30/3 = 10 and (3/4)/3 = 1/4.
So we know 1/4 = 10 km and 4/4 = 40 km. That is the length to the restaurant.
As the restaurant is only halfway to the end, we can find the total length : 2x40 = 80 Km.
