Italian IMAT 2019 Q 41

At a temperature of 27 ° C the volume of a balloon is 2.40 L. Assuming that the pressure remains
constant, what will be the volume of the same balloon at a temperature of -23 ° C?
A) 2.88 L
B) -2.04 L
C) 2.00 L
D) 1.20 L
E) 1.02 L

Hi everyone!
Answer is C), i understand the steps here (V1/T1=V2/T2)
i don’t understand why we need to use temperature in celsius not kelvin to solve
i thought this equation is derived from the ideal gas law, the units should stay the same?
Maybe these equations don’t only apply to ideal gases?

Hi!
I think even if we will convert temperature into kelvin it will work fine.
Using, V1/T1=V2/T2
2.40/300=V2/250
V2= 2.40 x 250/300
V2= 2.00L
Hope it helps:)

as far as ik theses equations ONLY apply to Ideal gases.

but yeah quoting Ujjwal
2.40/300=V2/250
V2= 2.40 x 250/300
V2= 2.00L

we get the answer either way
