Italian IMAT 2019 Q 58

Two objects of equal mass in thermal contact constitute an isolated system. The temperature initial of the two objects is respectively t ° C and 0 ° C; assuming no changes occur state, what is the equilibrium temperature if the specific heat of the hottest object is 9 times that the coldest object? A) t ° C B) 0.1t ° C C) 0.9t ° C D) 0.5t ° C E) 2t ° C

Hi!
Answer is C), how do you solve?

Hi!
we can use the formula T=m1c1t1+m2c2t2/m1c1+m2c2 for the calculation of equilibrium temperature.
here m1=m2=m
c1=9c2
T=mx 9c2 x t + m x c2 x 0/9mc2 + mc2
T= 9 m c2 t/ 10m c2
T= 0.9t degrees celcius.
Hope it helps:)
