Riverside Walk is a popular walking path, 3.2 kilometres long, beside the River Bee. There is a seat situated at each end of the path and also every 400 metres in between. There are two litter bins just next to every seat and one litter bin every 100 metres between each seat and the next.

How many litter bins are there along Riverside Walk?

B. 42

C.45

D. 48

E. 51

The answer says B. May I know how this is thought?

Hi! I’m not great at mental maths so I feel like it’s better to draw it out and then calculate it to avoid silly mistakes and to go about it step by step. Here’s my working! Hope it helps:)) Also ignore that last cross on the far right it’s not supposed to be there :))
