Math perpendicular linear equations

What is the equation of the line perpendicular to the linear equation 4x+6y=5?
Answer is 3x-2y=14

Hi everyone!

This is what i tried to do:
4x+6y=5
y=(-2/3)x + 5/6 so m1=(-2/3)

The two lines are perpendicular so m1 * m2 = -1
so m2 = 3/2

But the i find 2y-3x=2p, which is incorrect. I also don’t know how to find the value of p.

Can anyone help me solve? Thank you!!!

Hi,

I solved it the same but the mistake you did is saying 2y - 3x :
the equation of the perpendicular already was 3/2x+5/6 = y
then you multiply by 2 to make it in the standard form (i supposed this because probably all the answers were in this form)

when you multiply by 2 you get 3x +10/6 = 2y
then you move 2 y to the other side so it becomes 3x-2y.

Now for me is this was the only choice in the form 3x-2y i would directly choose it becasue i am sure of this step and i am not sure about the C. In the answer you gave it was 14 but i clearly did not obtain a 14, i got a -10/6 on the other side

but then again, since i am sure of the first step i would directly choose it, if there were two choices in 3x-2y with difference intercepts then this would be a problem

I hope i am not wrong and this was helpful
