Speciation types

Hey guys! I confuse allopatric speciation and peripatric speciation. What is the difference between the two?

Hi!
Allopatric speciation: speciation due to a geographic barrier.
For instance the formation of an island which separates a species and results in the new
island locked group diverging genetically from the other group over time.

Peripatric speciation: A small group breaks off from a larger group and forms a new species due to physical barrier.

It’s similar to Allopatric speciation but the major difference being one group is much smaller than the other.
The frequency of traits in the subpopulation may differ from the larger group due to it’s Size.
Hope it helps:)
