Timetables, free time and attendance

Hi, I just have a few questions which are listed below.

I understand that medicine is a demanding course, but is there still free time to do other things you enjoy or is it constant study and class?

Is attendance being mandatory reinforced or is it just a loose rule they have? I’ve always been much better and more efficient at self study so I would prefer to maybe skip some classes if possible.

During the first few years if you make sure to study from the first days and not cram before exams you can easily have a rich social life.
